How to tackle dark discoloration on your elbows and knees

Similar to many other areas of our body tend elbows and knees over time to dark discoloration.

This is because dead cells and other skin imperfections accumulate here and attach firmly to the skin.

We may sometimes tend to forget about the elbows and knees, but on closer inspection it becomes apparent that they are among the darkest areas of our skin.

We often lean on both of them, on any type of surface without thinking about the fact that they can get dirty in the process.

Since the elbows and knees only have a relatively small number of sebum glands, they not only tend to  discolour , but also to dry out.

The skin can then become cracked, which in turn makes it easier for further dirt to settle and ultimately leads to an uncomfortable skin feeling and an unsightly skin color.

Although darkly discolored skin does not affect health, it does not correspond to our concept of aesthetics.

Fortunately , many natural methods exist to lighten the skin of your elbows and knees, remove dead cells, and achieve a healthy appearance.

Soda against discoloration

This inexpensive, natural product is readily available and an excellent natural exfoliant. It  helps remove dead cells and impurities that are causing the discoloration.

How is baking soda used?

  • It is sufficient to mix the product with a little water until a viscous mass is formed in order to be able to use its full potential.
  • This paste is now applied to the elbows and knees by gently massaging and allowing it to take effect for 5 minutes. After this time, rub the areas and finally rinse them off with lukewarm water.
  • You can rub these areas vigorously, they are sufficiently resistant to survive this without skin irritation.
  • When this treatment is complete, it is important to keep your elbows and knees hydrated to prevent dehydration.
  • Repeat the treatment 2 to 3 times a week.

Oats are a natural exfoliator that helps remove imperfections from the skin while smoothing it out at the same time.

This grain helps remove black spots from elbows and knees, revitalizes them and restores their uniform tone.

How is it used?

  • Mix two teaspoons of oatmeal with two teaspoons of fresh milk or cream.
  • Apply the mixture to your elbows and knees using circular massages and let it work for a few minutes.
  • Rub the treated areas for another 10 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
  • When this treatment is complete, apply plenty of moisturizer to the skin areas.

While petroleum jelly doesn’t exactly act like a natural exfoliant, it has positive effects in terms of moisturizing and lightening the skin.

You can use petroleum jelly after exfoliating to prevent the skin on your elbows and knees from drying out and thus restore a light skin tone more quickly.

How is it used?

  • Make a cream of chickpea powder and water and apply it to your elbows and knees.
  • When the mixture dries off, rinse everything off with cold water, dry the skin well, then apply vaseline generously.
  • Now connect your elbows and knees and make sure that the Vaseline can take effect overnight.

olive oil

This natural product can help you get rid of blackened elbows and knees. It also provides moisture and prevents the skin from drying out.

How is it used?

  • Warm a little olive oil and apply it to your elbows and knees.
  • Rub the oil into your skin. Do this treatment before bed so the oil can work overnight.
  • Repeat the treatment three times a week for particularly beautiful results.
  • You can do the same treatment with coconut oil or vitamin E.

lemon

The lemon is an astringency and brightener at the same time and will support you in the fight against black spots on elbows and knees if it is used often enough.

How is it used?

  • Wash your elbows and knees, then rub them with lemon in a circular motion.
  • Massage the affected areas with the lemon for 10 minutes and then let them dry.
  • Repeat this treatment daily.
  • It is also possible to use a mixture of lemon and sugar or salt to create an exfoliator that can be used to remove dead cell material. Mix one part lemon juice with two parts sugar or salt and then massage the mixture into your elbows and knees in circular motions. Leave the scrub on, then rinse it off with cold water.
