There are important things that you don’t see at first glance, but that you still have to clean in order to have a really clean and hygienic home.

We often live with substances or in circumstances that could affect our  health. A common illness due to a lack of hygiene are allergies.

No matter how hard we try to keep the house or apartment clean, there are still some important things that we sometimes forget.

These places not only stay dirty but also litter the rest of the house and sometimes you don’t even know where the smell is coming from.

In every household there are places that have to be cleaned properly in order to maintain adequate hygiene. Check out the corner of your living space a little closer, so you discover in which locations that you use every day, you were careless.

1. Upper part of the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets

Dust and dirt often accumulate on the top of the kitchen cabinet . By that we mean, of course, those pieces of furniture that don’t reach the ceiling. It’s hard to get to, but you should make the effort to clean there at least twice a year.

  • Then fill it with 5 liters of water.
  • Then add half a glass of ammonia.
  • Then moisten a rag with the water from the bucket.
  • Then clean all surfaces with the rag.

2. Trash cans and the surrounding areas

The trash can is often in the kitchen cupboard. It is important to clean it and the surrounding areas at least every 2 weeks.

Rubbish often falls next to the bucket. This creates pollution and bad smells.

  • First dampen a rag with water and soapy water.
  • Then wipe the surfaces of the kitchen cabinet and trash can.
  • Then wash the trash can with water.
  • Then let it air dry.

3. Clean the broom

It is essential to clean our cleaning tools as well. Otherwise, they won’t be able to do their job. Soil, hair and dirt often get caught between the bristles of the broom.

  • First, pour 4 liters of clean water into a bucket.
  • Then add some cleaning agent.
  • Then dip the broom in and clean it.
  • Now wash it out with clear water.

4. Fans and ceiling lamps

Dust that we normally don’t see accumulates on our lamps and fans . In doing so, however, we should avoid the dust getting into the air and polluting our living space.

You need a ladder for cleaning, otherwise you will never get to these places.

  • First, remove dust with a frond.
  • Then dampen a cloth with water and cleaning agent and use it to thoroughly wipe lamps and fans.

5. Pillow and mattress

Even if you use pajamas to protect them, they still need to be cleaned. This is where dead cell debris, sweat and environmental pollution accumulate.

Because we spend so much time on them, there is too much moisture. This is an ideal environment for bacteria. It’s actually very easy to keep them clean and hygienic if you follow these tips.

How do you clean them?

  • First, take off the sheets.
  • Then use a glass of baking soda (200 g).
  • Sprinkle the entire bed using the baking soda with a strainer.
  • Then let it work for 3 hours.
  • Then vacuum up the dust. The baking soda swallows all dirt.

6. Shopping bags

Fabric shopping bags are great for protecting the environment. Unfortunately , there is often something going on on the way home from the supermarket.

We advise you to also clean shopping bags regularly, because sometimes something in them becomes moldy and then affects fresh food.

How do you clean them?

  • First, remove any remnants that you find in it.
  • Then put them in the washing machine with a neutral powder.
  • Then let them air dry so you can use them again.
