How to relieve foot pain at home

  • Foot bath: prepare a lukewarm bath with sea salt. Perform a gentle massage, then apply cold water to activate the blood flow. Dry your feet thoroughly, especially between the toes, then apply a moisturizer (never between the toes) or powder.
  • Ginger bath: grate a sufficient amount of ginger and then mix it with approx. 2 liters of  boiling water. When the water is lukewarm, massage your feet in the bath. This helps activate the circulation.
  • Horse chestnut not only improves circulation, it also eliminates swelling. This is applied in compresses or creams. You can also replace the horse chestnut with rosemary essence.
  • A few drops of  arnica tincture in lukewarm water as a footbath is also a valued remedy. However, you shouldn’t leave your feet in this bath for more than five minutes, as the skin becomes chapped
  • A massage with castor oil removes irritation and dryness.
  • A lukewarm bath with mint essence not only relieves pain, but also refreshes your feet.

Some exercises to strengthen the muscles in your feet

Feet
  • A tennis ball and bare feet are enough to massage them well. Simply work the ball through from the heel to the arch on the floor.
  • Sit or lie down on the floor, spread your legs and stretch your toes up, stretching them back and forth.
  • Sit or lie down on the floor or on your bed, now make circular movements, the bigger the circle, the better.
  • Sit on the floor or a chair. These exercises should always be done with bare feet: flex your toes as if to grab something. You can do these exercises with a cloth or a ball.
